For now the file needs to be emptied from the Georgia Mission Impossible trip.
The day of my last published Hummm… file I found I was still caught by the in usual universe that makes me think hummm… maybe I had fallen down the rabbit hole again.
That is where I will start with a rabbit story. This one will need to be explained. After hitting the publish button on the last hummm… blog I got on my bike to do some shopping at the local butcher shop. It was still hot as blazes but I had my small cooler bag packed in my bike bag. Walked into the butcher I asked for the items on my list. They did not have pork chops.
“Ok, when can I expect to come back and purchase?”
“The shipment is due in at anytime.”
Not to be deterred I selected a replacement. Paid and carried my bag out to the bike. A huge refrigerated truck was parked in the street and as I was determining how I would get around it I looked at the signage on the truck. I busted out laughing. No kidding? This has to be documented!
Then there was vacation. Traveling to another country or area of the country you can expect to see things you would not see or experience in your own area. But, these are the more strange ones we found along our recent travels.
The feature picture made me look twice as I walked down a street in Wierum, Friesland. This small town is along the Wadden Sea. Sitting outside this house was these two fully dressed individuals at a closer look they were not real. What was going on at that house was the question that first popped into our heads. Maybe a fest/party? While driving out of town we saw that other houses in that small town were decked out with paintings sitting on easels. We found out later it was an art event that the town holds.
This one is from the town of Vierhuizen. We had missed our bike turn and ended up in this small town that had more houses (but not many more) than the name indicates (4). After finding our fault (yes, I am not taking full credit for the navigational mistake, Hubby!)
I saw this chicken mocking us from the window as if to say, “I have seen this all before. You came here to see me sitting on my nest in this window. Lucky you!”
Then there was the day we visited the towns of Balk and Sloten. These small towns must lack entertainment as I found several items that made my hummm…file thick.
The first was this one in Balk.
I almost rode my bike into a parked car when I saw this one. When I turned around to take a picture (as the hubby speeded down the road unaware of my hummm discovery) I saw that this was not an advertisement for a jean shop but a business that takes jeans and makes them into flower planters. The ones at the back of the house were all standing on their own two feet with flowers cascading out of the waistlines.
Sloten brings two items into the hummm…file. The first I thought was just unusual wall display. Then the Hubby said “Here is another one. Look at the car.”
After seeing these things we travelled to Leeuwarden by train. Upon arrival were so dozens of people (mostly young people) with huge backpacks, tents, wearing tie dye shirts and dreadlocks. All heading towards us. “What is going on? Some sort of music festival?” We looked it up online and found out it was the SYFi fest people were attending. I stayed away from signs like the following as I had seen enough strange things down this rabbit hole.
Now, that about empties the file again for awhile (I hope…).
Have you seen anything strange in your recent travels or around where you live? Share below we would love to know we are not alone in our experiences.

The 2019 first edition of humm…
This is another one of those blogs of things that happened last year that made us stop, wonder and think “Hummm”.
We are pretty normal people, my hubby and I. My hubby likes to think we are boring, let me re-phrase that, he is boring, he knows I am not boring.
