We live in the Netherlands. Just outside of Amsterdam near the largest bulb garden in the world, The Keukenhof.
I grew up in the United States and I am from the Land of 10,000 Lakes…Minnesota.
My hubby is Dutch and has a career here in the country of water and tulips… The Netherlands.

We own a cedar strip canoe. We paddle in The Netherlands and the United States.
I own two 12 foot Wilderness kayaks. One in The Netherlands and one in the United States.
The Hubby owns a 14 foot yellow Wilderness kayak here in the Netherlands.

I am a long time kayaker and outdoors person. I return to my home territory in the Northern Minnesota each year to enjoy the lakes, rivers and outdoors.

Very nice places you have visited. We are planning a trip to Germany and Switzerland perhaps for next year. We would like to visit the Netherlands and Belgium on a future trip.

Thanks for the comment. I lived in Germany for 3 years and I have visited Switzerland by train and I have also skied there. Both are places full of wonderful things to do and see. The Netherlands and Belgium are great and I hope you plan on visiting. Mostly people see Amsterdam but there is soooo much more here than Amsterdam to really enjoy. Thanks for stopping and taking the time to comment. Safe Travels!

Unfortunately, I don’t like travels in campings, but I envy to people who do it. They are real travelers.

I’ve always loved kayaking/canoeing, ever since I first tried it out at the age of 12 with my Dad. I prefer solo kayaking, with a nice light paddle. If I go doubles, I hope for a very good partner!
Loved looking over your blog. Sounds like you get quite a bit of fun! All the best with the rest of your adventures. 🙂

Have you ever canoed any of the rivers of southern Minnesota?
LikeLike
No I haven’t. I am looking at kayaking close to Whitewater State Park this spring. The Minnesota River is also on my list, but I think that is not considered a Southern MN River…

you should come up to Tofino with your canoe.I canoe all the time! I come from Peterborough, Ontario. The Peterborough canoe is well known.I prefer to canoe than kayak myself.
What type of Cedar? Eastern white or red?

I will check out that location. We are unsure what type of cedar since we do not know her builder. But, from the look of her my guess is white. Thanks so much for stopping by our blog.

I’ve owned three different campers and a couple of kayaks. Good living. 🙂

Isn’t it wonderful to be out in the world instead of experiencing it from the sidelines? I think people who are in touch with the ground (most gardeners) are well connected to the outdoors. Thanks for the comment.

That’s a beautiful canoe. I spent 40 years in Minnesota (and fell in love with the Boundary Waters) but never paddled anything that gorgeous. We had an aluminum canoe, but it did have the advantage of being lighter. Now I live in Britain, where they call kayaks canoes. It drives me quietly nuts.

Oh… yeah know all about the “nuts” as they do the same here in The Netherlands. Our Cedar canoe is located in The Netherlands, so we have not taken her into the BWCA. We rented a Kevlar canoe from an outfitter in Ely.
