All of it came out of the canal in just a small part in front of our house.😳

Maybe the previous owner couldn’t ride a bike very well

I often wonder at the thoughtlessness of people. Why do they not care? About the environment or about each other.

Being a kayaker I have wondered that very same thing many many times. The answer has never been revealed to me. I thought what a waste as each one of those bikes could have been recycled.

Be glad, not sad… they are no longer in the canal.😊

I say, you take that pile as is and nail it to a large piece of board and sell it as “Historic Canal Art” – I’ve seen worse go for some mighty high prices hehe.

I know! With the mud and all it even has a natural character. Sadly it was hauled off before the million dollar idea could sink in. Maybe next time.😂

I had heard that people throw bicycles in the canal, but seeing the evidence is still a little bit shocking! I wonder why they do that?

I think it is a pile of ‘lent’ bikes. Stolen bikes used only for one bike trip to somewhere. Ditched in the water to hide the crime. And there is a lot of water in the Netherlands to hide things in….
